About Tomkins Institute

The Tomkins Institute exists in order to:

  • Provide resources for those who seek to understand the biological system of innate human affect displayed on the face from infancy through adulthood, and its role in the motivation of feeling, cognition, and action.

  • Continuously learn and teach others how these biological processes transform into patterns of emotion, perception, and action that shape us, our relationships, and our world.

  • Further extend and apply Tomkins’ constructs to benefit individuals, communities, cultures, nations and the planet.

The Tomkins Institute is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 educational organization.
